The Edge Chrome Polish Instructions.

They say for best results use with a Hi Shine Non-Wipe UV/LED Gel top coat:

1. Apply gel bonder and base coat as normal and cure
2. Apply colour gel polish coats and cure
3. Apply non-wipe hi-shine top coat and cure
4. Using the applicator, rub the chrome powder into the nails.  You will need at least 2 layers of chrome powder.  Rub well until you have a mirror finish.
5. Apply non-wipe hi-shine top coat and cure.  The Edge recommend product 2003060.

 

 

 

 

 

Gellux Chrome Polish Instructions

1. Apply bonder and base as normal and cure.
2. Apply colour gel polish coats and cure
3. Apply top coat and cure.  Wipe away sticky residue with a DRY lint-free wipe.
4. Apply chrome powder thoroughly, using circular motion to rub in.  Remove or rub in any excess powder.
5. Seal with 1 to 2 further layers of top coat.  Cure and remove sticky residue with prep and wipe.

Some technicians/therapists have been experiencing problems with the IBD Just Gel top and base coat curing in and around the bottle tops and on the brushes.  During application it is imperative to keep out of direct sunlight and UV light.  Additionally these products should ideally be stored in a cool place out of direct sunlight to extend the life of the product.

IBD have advised us of the following:

As nail products in the nail industry have evolved and LED light technology has become popular, ingredients have changed. The new ingredients in the gels are extremely sensitive to light. The bottles are specially made to ensure the product remains in a liquid state, no matter where they are stored. However, when in use there is a chance of them setting if they are exposed to any UV or LED light. This light may not just be from your nail lamp, it may be from several sources, such as you desk lamp, lights in the ceiling, but most commonly it is from the natural day light coming from any windows, sky lights or doors. It does not need to be a sunny day for this to happen, even on a cloudy/wet day there are still UV rays in the atmosphere. The brushes will literally harden whilst you are using them, it happens in seconds. It mainly happens to basecoat and top coat, as they have no colour pigment so the light can penetrate straight through. This is not a product fault and happens industry wide with any products that are LED curable. We are not obliged to replace these products, so you must consider your working environment carefully. If your brush does go stiff, the best thing to do is not put the brush back into the bottle. This will cause all the hardened gel, to crumble off into the bottle, making the product totally useless. Instead, using a tissue pull the brush out of the cap and throw the brush away (it cannot be rescued using acetone, it will just melt the bristles). If you don’t have a new bottle to hand, you can use a nylon gel brush to apply the product. When you get a new bottle you can just top up the bottle with the old brushless bottle.
